OUR MAISON

We are celebrating Champagne terroir’s individuality, demonstrated in every bubble, defined by the unique perspective of our people.

OUR STORY

CRAFTING A LEGACY

Rooted in Aÿ, in the heart of Champagne’s legendary Grand Cru region, the Lallier story begins with one family’s philosophy: a sincere respect for nature, and an unwavering curiosity toward the singularity it can bring each year.

1906: RENÉ LALLIER – HISTORIC BEGINNINGS

The Lallier name dates back to the Champagne House’s founder, René Lallier. An environmentalist with a passion for the Aÿ terroir who paved the way for Lallier’s Champagne-making philosophy. René Lallier expected the best quality, from the grape selection to the production process.

1938: JEAN LALLIER – THE ART OF CULTIVATION

In 1938, after gaining experience at Deutz & Gelderman in Germany, René’s son Jean takes over Lallier, introducing new cultivation and production methods, and creating an emblematic cuvée which marries Lallier’s elegant tradition with innovative originality.

1973-1993: JAMES LALLIER – A NEW LEGACY

James Lallier’s arrival in 1973 marks a new era modernizing production, renovating cellars, acquiring new vineyards and purchasing the Lallier mansion in the heart of Aÿ. The daring Blanc de Blancs blend is created under James’ leadership.

2004: FRANCIS TRIBAUT – PASSIONATE RISE

Renowned oenologist Francis Tribaut acquires Lallier in 2004, launching an era of growth with modern restorations and the creation of Réflexions – R and Ouvrage Champagne. He also refines Lallier’s oenological philosophy, combining precision while shining a light on terroir individuality.

2021: DOMINIQUE DEMARVILLE – PASSIONATE MODERNITY

Dominique is one of the most revered experts in Champagne cultivation, with an impressive career of over 23 years in leading cellar positions at several Champagne houses, he was once the youngest Chef de Caves at a major maison at only 31. Acclaimed for his precise contemporary vision of blending, perfectly aligned to the authentic, accessible and sophisticated Lallier style, his objective is to highlight the wines’ complex and generous character, while crafting world-class cuvées and ushering the House into a more global eco-responsible approach. He inherited the mantle of Cellar Master and General Manager at Lallier in January 2021.

OUR PLACES: Aÿ & OGER

Champagne Lallier calls home to two complementary locations in iconic Grand Crus region: the first in Aÿ, which houses our aging cellar, and the second in Oger, Côte des Blancs, where the Maison’s contemporary production facilities are held. Each location compliments the other, marrying aged old techniques with creative innovation.

OUR VINEYARDS

OUR PEOPLE

We’ve always believed that the terroir’s greatest potential is revealed through the unique perspectives of our people. Under the stewardship of acclaimed Cellar Master and General Manager Dominique Demarville, the Lallier team brings heart, formidable knowledge of the terroir and multigenerational craftsmanship to every bottle, adapted over time to create a more eco-responsible legacy.

“Lallier has an exceptional oenological heritage, rich with one of, if not the largest, selection of reserve wines. It remains devoted to a love of Pinot Noir, which allows us to create the special signature of our Champagnes. Along with the entire Lalllier team, I am thrilled to follow in the footsteps of my predecessors, continuing a two century tradition of expertise and excellence in creating such iconic cuvées.”
